2nd Abhishek Sports Meet by Jamwal Group gets underway

JAMMU, Mar 16: 2nd Abhishek Sports Meet, being organized by the Jamwal Group of Educational Institutions (JGEI) got underway at Yogananda College of Engineering & Technology (YCET) Campus, Gurha Brahmana (Patoli), here today.
Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Principal Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department was the chief guest on the inaugural function, while Mehmood Khan, Secretary, State Board of Technical Education and Shiv Deep Singh, Superintendent of Police, Rural, Jammu were the guests of honour.
The students from all the institutions running under the aegis of Jamwal Group namely Tawi Engineering College, Tawi Polytechnic College, Tawi College for B.Sc. Agriculture, Shahpurkandi, Pathankot, IECS Polytechnic, National College of Education (NCE), Purkhoo, Jammu, Institute of Management Sciences (IMS), and Yogananda College of Engineering & Technology (YECT), Gurha Brahmana (Patoli), Jammu are taking part in this 2-day Sports Meet.
During the Sports Meet, the students will participate in Cricket, Volleyball, Kho-kho, Kabbadi, Carrom, Chess, Badminton, Table Tennis, Tug of War and Athletics.
The chief guest and other dignitaries lighted the traditional lamp and declared the Sports Meet open.
The celebration started with a march past by the participating students and lighting of flame by Ehtisham Khan, Afiyat Rather and Abhishek Choudhary. Earlier, Er Vidhi S. Singh, Chairman JGEI presented welcome address and later delivered vote of thanks also.
The inaugural function was also attended by Thakur Shiv Dev Singh Jamwal, Vice Chairman, JGEI; Er Renu Bangroo, Managing Director,JGEI; Dr. Arvind Dewangan, Director, YCET; Dr. Nitin S. Sikarwar, Director, IMS; Prof. JR Dhotra; Prof KG Gupta, Principal IECS and Prof BR Moza, Tawi College, Pathankot.
