MIET celebrates World Computer Literacy Day

JAMMU, Dec 6:Computer Science and Engineering Department, Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), today organised a programme to celebrate the World Computer Literacy Day, here at its premises. The event was conducted under the banner of CSI Student Chapter of MIET.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Block Development Officer, Bhalwal, Aijaz Qaiser.
Prof Ankur Gupta in his address highlighted the need of computer literacy for under privileged socio-economic section of the country. He asked the students to visit the nearby Government schools for imparting computer education.
Prof SK Sharma also stressed to initiate the computer literacy mission in the State.
In his address, the chief guest applauded the efforts made by the College in order to promote the cause and promised the students to provide every help in giving a wide publicity to the noble initiative taken by the College.
Later Prof Salim Raza Qureshi invited the chief guest to launch officially the ‘Sakshar’ website on computer literacy. The event was followed by valedictory function in which certificates were distributed among the students.
