SRINAGAR, Mar 24: The ‘Uri Volleyball League’ which was organized by Army at Dagger Sports Node for the local youth of Uri area of Baramulla district concluded today.
An Army spokesman said that 16 teams from Uri and nearby villages of Gingle, Mohra, Thajal, Sultan Dhaki, Jabla, Chakra, Bhijama and Salamabad participated in the tournament.
He said the closely contested final match of the league was played between Gingle and Mohra Stars which was won by the Mohra Stars. “The match was witnessed by large number of people and both the winners and runners up were suitably rewarded. The locals were thankful to the Army for organizing such an event which will go a long way in motivating the youth towards games and sports,” he said.
