Sports inculcate discipline, leadership: Chib

SRINAGAR, Dec 7: Stressing for the importance of games in inculcating the discipline among youth, Minister for Medical, Technical Education and Sports, R.S. Chib said that for developing a healthy body and sound mind, sports play a vital role and medical fraternity should also participate actively in the sports.
The Minister was speaking on the Annual Sports Day organised by Government Medical College, Srinagar at Bakshi Stadium here today.
For developing sports infrastructure at Medical College, Srinagar to boost the sports activities, the Minister announced funds to the tune of Rs. 30 lakh out of his constituency development fund. He also assured the medical fraternity and medical students for construction of Indoor Stadium for Medical College at Srinagar adding that land shall be identified on priority for acquisition.
The Minister also distributed mementoes among the first 3 position holders in the 100 meter and 200 meter race completion on the occasion.
Among others, members of Sports Council, faculty members of Government Medical College, Srinagar besides medical students and senior citizens participated in the function.
