JAMMU, Apr 4: People of village Pangali in Nagrota area of city outskirts today held a protest against PHE Department for no water supply in the village for last 10 days.
The protesting residents said that they have been facing acute shortage of water for last 10 days that too at a time when mercury in Jammu has started rising. They alleged that they are suffering badly as for last 10 days they did not get water supply.
“We have not taken bath for last many days and are bound to wear dirty clothes, as there is no water in our houses even to wash a handkerchief”, Pandit Subhash Prasher (a social worker of the village) said.
He further said that in last 10 days they approached the concerned PHE officers/officials many times but neither they gave any satisfactorily reply nor restored water supply in the village.
The villagers accused the PHE authorities of negligence and carelessness and appealed Chief Engineer, PHE, to intervene personally to restore water supply in the area. They also threatened of blocking the National Highway at Nagrota if the water supply is not restored in the area.
