JAMMU, Apr 4: Rajouri Football Club lifted the title trophy of the first Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Memorial (MMSM) Football Gold Cup District League Tournament, organized by District Football Association Rajouri, here.
The final match was played between Rajouri Youngsters Football Club (RYFC) and Rajouri Football Club (RFC) in which RFC registered win via plenty shootout after a goalless draw.
Chairman of District Auqaf Committee, Abdul Qayoom Dar was the chief guest on the occasion, who presented medals, trophies and other prizes to the players.
Mr Dar lauded the efforts of District Football Association Rajouri for holding the tournament under the aegis of J&K Football Association.
He said the tournament provided ample opportunity to budding football players to hone their skill.
Principal Govt PG College Prof. Javid Qazi; Surinder Singh Bunty, Vice President J&K Football Association and Yougesh Sharma were the guests of honour, while Ramesh Chander, Joint Secretary, JKFA was the special guest.
President District Football Association Rajouri Awais Ganai, Varinder Gupta senior member JKFA and Tanpreet Bagga were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, at Kathua, in the first match today, State Football Academy Kathua crushed a newly created Club of Govindsar FC by twelve goals to nil (12-0) in a one-sided affair.
Vishavjeet Singh of SFA led the charge on GFC by scoring 6 goals in the match and was also named man of the match.
In the second match of the day, Falote FC secured first win of the league against Janglote FC. Both the teams fought for the victory throughout the match with scores leveling at the half time. However, FFC got the better of Janglote FC after they managed to break their defence and score a winner in dying moments of the second half. Vishal and Surjeet scored for FFC and Chetan scored for Janglote FC. Surjeet Singh was awarded man of the match for his outstanding performance.
