NEW DELHI, May 1: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today felicitated the first 20 national level toppers in IAS / Civil Services Exam (CSE) 2017, the result of which was declared on April 27.
Among the first 20 national level toppers who were personally felicitated by Dr Jitendra Singh at North Block here were Anudeep Durishetty (Rank 1), Anu Kumari (Rank 2), Sachin Gupta (Rank 3), Atul Prakash (Rank 4), Pratham Kaushik (Rank 5), Koya Sree Harsha (Rank 6), Ayush Sinha (Rank 7), Saumya Sharma (Rank 9) and others including Ashima Mittal, Neha Jain, Shivani Goyal and Utkarsh.
The All India Rank 1 topper, Anudeep Durishetty hails from Telangana and is an engineering graduate from BITS Pillani. All India Rank 2 Anu Kumari is an MBA from IMT Nagpur while the All India Rank 3 Sachin Gupta is an engineering graduate from Thapar University, Patiala. The All India Rank 9 Saumya Sharma is distinct from others in the sense that she is physically Divyang with hearing impairment since she was in Class XI.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the tradition started by him three years ago was motivated by the intention to know and learn about the background and ideas of the new entrants into the Civil Services and at the same time, also enable these youngsters to familiarize themselves with the DoPT and its officers, because it is this Department which will be dealing with their cadre related issues for the next 30-35 years of their career.
Another new tradition started by the Ministry of Personnel, he said, was introduction of three-months mentorship period in the Government of India after these young Civil Servants complete their stint at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie and before they report to their respective State Cadres for further duties.
The toppers who were felicitated on the occasion narrated their experiences and thoughts one by one. Invariably, all of them said that they felt privileged to become a part of the IAS Civil Services fraternity and that it is overwhelming for them to be personally invited by the Minister-in-charge DoPT.
