Dorjey for creating mass awareness about welfare schemes

LEH, May 3: Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs Chering Dorjey on his second-day tour to Nubra Valley visited the Skuru and Tertse villages today.
He was accompanied with EC Tourism Tsering Sandup, Councilor Hunder Kunzang Lotos, Tehsilder and officers of Nubra sub-division.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister mentioned about around 150 new schemes launched by Government of India and urged upon people to step forward to avail benefit the schemes applicable in Ladakh. He stressed upon the role of Councilors in creating awareness among the villagers and to make these schemes available to them.
Expressing hope to provide 24 hours electricity in Nubra Valley in next two years, Tsering Dorjey mentioned about 200 KV transmission line at the approval stage by Centre Government to connect Nubra with Northern Grid through Pheyang village. He said that with 24 hours electricity facility Nubra will have promising business opportunities and other advantages for people and youth in particular.
Speaking about NCDC scheme, the Minister informed that mass awareness campaigns would be conducted soon in Nubra to educate people about this scheme. He urged upon the farmers and cooperative societies to take initiative in learning and availing benefits of this scheme. He also mentioned about the issue take up with Centre Government to release the funds under AIBP scheme to complete the major irrigation canals in Nubra. He expressed hope to get the sanction for funds to complete the remaining work shortly.
Tsering Dorjey also visited villages of Skamphuk, Hunder and Partapur last evening. He urged villagers of Hunder to cooperate with the administration in making Tsangda project successful in Nubra. He assured the public of addressing their problems.
