Habitual criminals involved in snatching, theft cases arrested

JAMMU, May 3: Gandhi Nagar police arrested two habitual criminals, who were involved in snatching and theft cases registered with different police stations of Jammu District.
As per police sources, on April 28 this year, a complaint was lodged by a lady namely Shakuntla Devi, wife of Vinod Kumar of Lower Roop Nagar with Police Station Gandhi Nagar stating that two motorcycle borne youth stopped her way at cremation ground Shastri Nagar and snatched her purse containing cash, ATM cards, etc.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 97/18 under Section 341 and 382 RPC was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, two persons namely Ajay Partap Singh alias Abu, son of Mohan Singh of Kachi Chawni Jammu and Ajit Sharma alias Vicky, son of Tirth Ram Sharma of Indra Colony Janipur were arrested by police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia and assisted by SI Kali Charan arrested the habitual criminals under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
On their disclosure, motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AV-4180 used in the commission of crime has been seized and snatched property was also recovered.
It is pertinent to mention that the accused are habitual criminals and are involved in various snatching and theft cases registered with different police stations of Jammu district.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain their involvement in other snatching and theft cases.
