JAMMU, May 4: Northern Command Inter APS Hockey Championship concluded at APS Akhnoor, here today.
The Championship was organized by APS Akhnoor in both boys and girls sections for Army Public Schools of Northern Command under the aegis of Head Quarters Northern Command.
12 teams with 6 each in boys and girls sections participated in the event.
Chief guest Lt Col Jitender Singh Panwar declared the meet open.
The dignitaries present on the occasion included Col (Retd) Sheetal, District and Session Judge, Davinder Kapoor, Ashok Gandotra SE (PMGSY), Sheikh Rafeeq Ahmed, Retired DC, Shashwati Ghosh, Principal APS Rakhmuthi, Ruchi Behal Principal APS Nagrota and KCS Mehta Principal APS Akhnoor.
After the league matches, the first semifinal for girls was won by APS Akhnoor, defeating APS Rakhmuthi by 4-1, where as in the first semifinal for boys APS Nagrota defeated APS Udhampur by 5-4.
In the second semifinal for boys, APS Akhnoor defeated APS Rakhmuthi, while in second semifinal for girls, APS Dhar Road defeated APS Udhampur.
In boys final, APS Akhnoor drubbed APS Nagrota by 4-0, while in girls final, APS Dhar Road trounced APS Akhnoor by (1-0).
Maj Sunil Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion, while Nirmal Mahana, Principal, DPS Kathua and Avtar Singh, retired Deputy Secretary were the special guests.
The vote of thanks was presented by Principal KCS Mehta.
