Police to sponsor professional training of ace shuttler ‘Snowy’: Dr Vaid

JAMMU, May 4: The closing ceremony of 2nd Martyrs Memorial Badminton Tourn-ament was held at Indoor Badminton Hall, District Police Lines, Jammu today. Director General of Police, Dr. S.P Vaid was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion the DGP said that it is a treat to watch the young players playing the Badminton so well and professionally that I am sure they will bring laurels for the State in future. He said that police will provide all the help and assistance to the young players as we have been providing. I see great players of future of National repute in these youngsters. The demands and points brought into my notice will be favourably considered to provide all possible assistance, he said.
Director General of Police, Dr. S.P Vaid on this occasion informed that J&K Police will sponsor the professional coaching of the under 13 girl single title winner Snowy.
DGP thanked the organisors and distributed trophies and prizes among the winners and runner-ups of the tournament.
In his welcome address Shri G.S Slathia IGP (Retd.) and President of Kings Badminton Club who had organized the event expressed his gratitude to the Director General of Police and other guests who spared their valuable time in this hot summer and became a part of the event. Shri Slathia said that this is a second event and such event gives us new talents, players which will help in bringing more laurels to the State in future.
Ayush lifted the under 13 boys singles while Snowy lifted under 13 girls singles.  Aesh Goswami beat Sehdev Singh to lift under 17 boys singles while Rashmi Kashyap beat Snowy Goswami in under 17, Raghav Dogra lifted Men Singles while Niteshi Saina beat Rashmi Kashyap in Women singles, Rahul & Pawanjit beat Vivek & S. Sarvanan in Veteran Men Doubles 40+,  Raju  Chawla & Anil beat Vivek Slathia & Romesh in Veteran Men Doubles 50+, Kiran Wattal & Balbir beat Ravinder & Dr. P.D Gupta in Veteran Men Doubles 60+, Romesh & Niteshi beat Balbir & Prabhjyot in Veteran Mixed Doubles 70+.
