JAMMU, May 8: MLA and former Minister Priya Sethi today said that women oriented policies launched by State as well as Central Government including that of statutory maternity leave and other family-friendly policies have benefited working women to maintain continuity in their employment in their respective jobs while taking care of their children as well.
She was the chief guest at ‘Networking Event’ organized by Shanti Gupta Centre for Women’s Studies, MIER College of Education in collaboration with Anisha Safaya, founder of DISHA, and reigning queen for Mrs India Universe 2017 here today. Dr Renu Gupta, Vice Chairperson MIER, was the special guest on the occasion. Rakesh Gupta, president, Chamber of Commerce and Industry also graced the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Priya Sethi said carrier oriented women in West too have started taking breaks for better upbringing of their wards but return to their respective jobs with dignity and much effort, energy and enthusiasm. She advised women not to get cowed down by any pressure and contribute in socio-economic upliftment of society and their family by returning to their jobs whenever they desire but with much vigour.
Eminent women personalities from diverse fields across Jammu region had been invited as speakers to inspire the participants with their success stories.
Co host of the event, Anisha Safaya; Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar Jammu University of Jammu and Dr Gurmeet Kour, Incharge, Drug De- Addiction Centre, Psychiatry Hospital, Jammu were the eminent speakers for the event. Some prominent women personalities graced the occasion with their august presence and also interacted with the speakers and the audience.
Rupa Gupta, Joint Director, MIER, presented a welcome address. A documentary was shown about DISHA, “The Multifaceted SHE”, by Anisha Safaya.
The project aims to help, women to get back to work post career break, motivate and inspire women who want to get back to work but don’t know how to manage it. It also aims at businesses to have a common platform for these job seekers to talk about their programmes and trainings
