J&K drubs HP in Physically Handicapped Cricket Tri-Series

JAMMU, May 11: J&K Handicapped Cricket team registered big win by 7 wickets over Himachal Pradesh in Physically Handicapped Cricket Tri-Series, being organized by Himachal Pardesh Cricket Association for Divyang, under the aegis of Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India at Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.
Batting first, Himachal Pardesh Handicapped Cricket team scored 168 runs in 25.5 overs by losing all their wickets. Rintu Jaiswal (29), Hemraj (28) and Kuldeep Thakur (19) were the main scorers. From J&K, Jagmohan Singh took 3 wickets, while Amir Rather, Nadeem Bhat and Vaishnu took 2 wickets each and Vivek Sharma claimed 1 wicket.
In reply, J&K chased the target in 16.3 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Firdous Ahmad scored a brilliant unbeaten century (101 runs off 52 balls), studded with 22 boundaries, while Vivek Sharma and skipper Syed Shah contributed 28 and 26 runs to the total respectively. From Himachal, Gurmeet Singh took 2 wickets while Hemraj Right took 1 wicket for Himachal team. Firdous Ahmad was declared as the man of the match for his brilliant batting display.
Rajesh Gill, Former Ranji Trophy Player and in-charge of the J&K Physically Handicapped Cricket team while greeting the players informed that the J&K Physically Handicapped Cricket team was formed 3 years back with the help of J&K Police and Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu.
He further informed that Jagmohan has already represented the country against Afghanistan.
