LEH, May 17: Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council Leh opened its State Football Academy for girls, here today.
Executive Councillor for Youth Services and Sports, Gyal P. Wangyal formally inaugurated the coaching academy in the presence of nominated Councillor Rinchen Lhamo.
Over 200 girls participated in the selection trials out of which 40 girls were selected for the coaching.
Mr Wangyal who is also a member of J&K State Sport Council said that this Academy will give fillip to ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ campaign, adding that it depends on coaches to train them well to represent the State teams in future. Advising the girls to work hard he said that hardworking is the key to success and expressed hope that someday these girls will represent at different levels.
He also appealed the J&K State Sports Council to grant sufficient fund to Leh and Kargil districts at par with other district to run their activities.
Nominated Councillor Rinchen Lhamo expressed satisfaction over the opening of the Academy.
In-charge Sports Council Leh, Tsering Angmo who also represents J&K in Indian Women League as Manager said that the Academy will provide her to use her experience to groom Ladakhi youth in different sports events.
Chief Coach J&K Javed Mohd Sofi also spoke on the occasion.
