JAMMU, Dec 16: Defeating their rivals by convincing margins, Aircel XI and Young XI scripted resounding victories to advance in the ongoing Christmas Twenty-20 Cricket Cup, being organized by J&K Christian Sports Organisation in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Police Department at Parade Grounds, here.
In the first match, Aircel drubbed Young XI by 55 runs in an easy contest. Batting first, Aircel scored 154/5 in the stipulated 20 overs. Sunil Sambyal and Shanky scored 33 runs each, while Anand Tripathi and Sunny Gill contributed 24 and 23 runs to the total respectively. For Young XI Shamsuddin took 2 wickets, while Arun claimed one.
Young XI, in reply bundled out for 99 runs in 17.4 overs. Sahil (27) and Sanju (23) were the main scorers. Sunny Gill scalped 3 wickets for Aircel XI, while Sunil Sambyal bagged 2 and Imran one. Sunil Sambyal was declared man of the match.
In another match, Ishar XI defeated HPCC by 6 wickets. HPCC, batting first scored paltry total of 94 runs, with Sunny Malik contributing highest 27 runs. Pavit Singh Ishar was the wrecker-in-chief for Ishar XI, who scalped 4 important wickets by conceding 23 runs in his 4 overs, while Irshad bagged 3 wickets and Deepak Dogra claimed two.
Ishar XI, in reply sailed on a handsome knock of unbeaten 44 runs by Irshad and achieved the required target in 17.2 overs. Sahil and Saleem also contributed 27 and 15 runs to the total respectively. For HPCC, Sunny Malik bagged 2 wickets, while Altaf claimed one.
Irshad was adjudged man of the match.
