JMC initiates city beautification by way of Wall Painting

JAMMU, May 26: Sat Paul Sharma, Minister for Housing & Urban Development Department, J&K today distributed the prizes to the winners and participants of Wall Painting Competition, organized by Jammu Municipal Corporation, here.
Rajesh Gupta, MLA, Jammu (East) and KB Aggarwal, Financial Commissioner, Housing & Urban Development Department were the guests of honour.
For beautification of Jammu City, Jammu Municipal Corporation has chalked out comprehensive plan by way of wall painting in different areas of the city, development of rotaries, beautification/landscaping under flyover and different chowks, triangles etc. The beautification will be done on the theme of “Swachh Bharat Mission” and propagation of Dogra culture.
The function was attended by the Officers of JMC and J&K Bank, besides participants, school children and parents of students.
After adjudging the paintings by a penal of judges, two participants namely Muzzafar Ahmed Bhat and Dimple Kumar were declared as the winners, while Ramesh Chander Mahajan was declared as the 1st runners-up and Rahul Shidra and Diksha Andotra were declared as the 2nd runners-up. The prize money for the winners was Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively.  Besides, Rs 500 and a certificate of participation was also distributed to every participant as consolation prize.
The programme was organized by JMC in collaboration with J&K Bank Ltd.
During the function, the Minister for Housing & Urban Development Department appreciated JMC for organizing wall painting competition and also congratulated the artists and school children for participating in such competitions and added that the aim of organizing such wall painting competition is to enhance the beauty of the City of Temples.
The painting competition organized on the walls both sides near Hotel Asia, Jammu wherein  various artists from different walks of life and children from different schools viz. K. C. International, K. C. Public School, Jodhamal Public School, Jammu Sankriti School, Jammu, IIT, Jammu and Army School, Kaluchak participated in the painting competition.
The Artists painted the walls on different themes and gave colours to their imagination.
The theme of wall painting competition was aimed at Swachh Bharat Mission, Smart City, Nature and Environment, Social message, Art, Culture and Heritage of City of Temples.
During the function, Ramesh Kumar, Commissioner, JMC,  Rajesh Kumar Savan, Vice Chairman JDA, Rishal Singh, Joint Commissioner (A), JMC, Vinod Sharma, Raman Koushal, Vice Presidents of J&K Bank, Sunaina Sharma, Secretary, JMC and  Dr. Saleem Khan, Health Officer, JMC were present.
