Gourav Khajuria scores 159 in New Challengers big win

JAMMU, May 26: Talented batsman Gourav Khajuria scored a magnificent century (159 runs) to guide New Challenger Cricket Club to a big win over Country Cricket Club in the ongoing JKCA Premier Cricket Championship, being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, under the supervision of Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, New Challengers Cricket Club scored a decent total of 274 runs in the stipulated 30 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process. Gourav Khajuria scored 159 runs off 102 balls, studded with 21 boundaries and 1 six, while Naresh contributed valuable 59 runs off 47 balls with four fours and one six. Sahil Gupta chipped in with 21 off 23 balls. Gourav was simply in awe-inspiring touch, hitting the ball with fluidity and grace to send the rival bowlers on a leather hunt. For Country Cricket Club, Sachin, Kanishk, Agastya and Sunny took 1 wicket each.
In reply, Country Cricket Academy scored 147 runs in 28 overs, thus lost the match by 127 runs. Surya top scored with 69 runs off 77 balls, including 5 boundaries, while Agastya contributed 19 runs off 23 balls with the help off 2 boundaries. Naresh was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 5 important wickets, while Happy and Jatinder shared 2 wickets each.
