SRINAGAR, Dec 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Baseball Association (JKBA) has selected a 36 member team to represent the State in the 24th junior (under-19) national baseball championship being held at Bhubaneshwar-Orissa from December 22.
Fida Hussain Fidvi, General Secretary JKBA told Excelsior that Jammu and Kashmir would compete both in the boys and girls category of the championship. Fida said that the team would leave on December 18 to take part in the six day championship culminating on December 27.
“The contingent comprises of 32 players and four officials. Both the boys and girls teams comprise of 16 members each. The championship is being organized by Baseball Association of Orissa under the auspices of Amateur Baseball Federation of India. It is expected that the state team would perform well in the tournament,” said Fida who is also accompanying the team. The team has been sent under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council.
