JKP XI enters finals, Rainawari seals berth in semis

JAMMU, Dec 18: JKP XI drubbed Christian Sports Organisation (CSO) XI in the semifinals to qualify for the finals, while Rainawari Cricket Club registered a narrow win over HPCC to sail into the semifinals of the ongoing Christmas Twenty-20 Cricket Cup, being organized by J&K Christian Sports Organisation in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Police Department at Parade Ground, here today.
In the first match, Rainawari Cricket Club defeated HPCC in a close contest in low scoring game. Batting first, HPCC bundled out for a meagre total of 70 runs in 15.3 overs. Sunny Malik and Sajad Malik contributed 25 runs each. For Rainawari CC, skipper Kuldeep and Manjeet Singh scalped 4 wickets each, while Bansi Lal claimed two.
In reply, RCC reached the target in 10 overs by losing 7 wickets to win the match by 3 wickets. Ishan was the top scorer with 38 runs, while Manjeet contributed unbeaten 12 runs. Saqib was the wrecker-in-chief for HPCC, who captured 6 wickets, while Wasim claimed one. Manjeet of RCC was adjudged man of the match for his all-round performance.
Meanwhile, in the first semifinal played today, JKP XI drubbed CSO XI by 46 runs in an easy contest. Batting first, JKP XI scored 155 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Amit Sharma was the top scorer with 39 runs, while Jatin and Naresh contributed 30 and 22 runs to the total respectively. Ambrose, Rixon, Ripen and Nitu claimed one wicket apiece for CSO XI.
CSO in reply managed to score 109 runs to lose the match by 46 runs. Justin was the top scorer with 33 runs, while Rahul and Rixon contributed 20 and 14 runs respectively. For JKP XI, Dilbagh bagged 4 wickets, Shamsher captured 3, while Sunil and Vishal claimed one wicket each. Dilbagh Singh was declared man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Harbinder Singh, JD Singh, Saleem-ur-Rehman and Suhail as umpires, while Sanjay Bhatti and Yogesh maintained the scorebook.
