JAMMU/KATHUA, June 9: New Challenger Cricket Club defeated Cantt Cricket Club by 63 runs, while CMC Basohli got the better of Young Hearts XI Lachipur by a narrow margin of 13 runs in the JKCA Premier Cricket Championship, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, under the supervision of Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal in Jammu and Kathua districts.
At GGM Science College Hostel Ground, Jammu New Challenger Cricket Club thrashed Cantt Cricket Club in an easy contest.
Put into bat, New Challenger Cricket Club scored a good total of 210 runs in 30 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process.Nishu scored 67 runs, while Vasu and Sahil contributed 49 and 30 runs to the total respectively. For Cantt Cricket Club, Ashish took 3 wickets, while Raj Kumar claimed two.
In reply, Cantt Cricket Club managed to score 147 runs in 25.3 overs, thus lost the match by 63 runs. Dheeraj top scored with 26 runs, while Lal Singh and Rohit contributed 37 and 26 runs to the total respectively. For New Challenger Cricket Club, Sumit, Happy, Nishu and Manjeet took 2 wickets each. Nishu of New Challenger Cricket Club was adjudged as man of the match.
The match was officiated by Ravi Manchanda and Dayal Singh as umpires, while Saleem-ur-Rehman was the scorer.
At Sports Stadium, Kathua, CMC Basohli trounced Young Hearts XI Lachipur by a narrow margin of 13 runs in a high scoring match.
Young Hearts XI won the toss and put CMC Basohli into bat. Batting first, CMC Basohli scored 213 runs in 29.5 overs. Skipper Rohit top scored with 43 runs, while Lal Singh and Rohit contributed 37 and 26 runs to the total respectively. Nikhil, Rohit Raina and Sahil shared 2 wickets each.
In reply, Young Hearts Lachipur scored 200 runs in 30 overs by losing 9 wickets, thus lost the match by 13 runs. Sahil scored magnificent 84 runs off 64 balls, studded with 11 fours and one six, while Manjit and Simranjit contributed 26 and 24 runs to the total respectively. Vishav was pick of the bowlers, who took 4 important wickets, while Yuvraj Singh bagged 3 wickets. Vishav of CMC Basohli was declared as the man of the match.
