SAMBA, June 9: District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh Tara today chaired a meeting of District Task Force committee constituted to implement the initiatives of Central Government to promote, encourage and empower girl child under Beti Bachao Beti Padao (BBBP) scheme.
The District Task Force Committee discussed the annual action plan.
Earlier, the DC reviewed progress made during 2017-18 financial year plan and discussed in detailed the component wise plan for the year 2018 -19.
The DC urged the concerned departments to spread maximum awareness about the scheme and its objectives by using effective modes. He asked the Chief Education Officer to organise debates and symposiums in all educational institutions in collaboration with RDD, Social Welfare and ICDS Departments on the importance of protecting and educating the girl child.
The DC enjoined upon officers to organise information, education and communication activities like Nukad Natak, wall painting competitions , installing Guddi Gudda boards, vending machines, celebration of Ladli Beti Diwas etc. for spreading awareness about child sex ratio at birth.
He directed CMO and PO ICDS to activate front line functionaries (AWWs ASHA workers) to make people aware about the importance of girl child and bring an attitudinal change among the people about the girl child.
The DC also stressed upon the concerned officers to make coordinated efforts for the mass awareness in the society, specifically encourage parents to understand their role upbringing girl child and ensuring proper education of girl child.
