JAMMU, Dec 19: The Department of Punjabi, GCW, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu organized an extension lecture on Linguistics, here today.
On this occasion, Dr Kiran Bakshi Principal of the College was the chief guest whereas Dr Updesh Kaur, Former HoD, Punjabi Department, University of Jammu, was the resource person.
The programme began by lighting the lamp followed by introduction of topic by Prof Surjeet Kaur, HoD Punjabi about the importance of Linguistics in learning a language.
Dr Kiran Bakshi in her address stressed upon the need of understanding the basic structures of language and learning the perfect pronunciation by knowing the involvement of various organs of speech like tongue, lower jaw, upper jaw, nasal etc.
Dr Updesh Kaur, expert in phonetics and linguistics, familiarized the students with the morphology of language and the importance of the development of language skills like speaking and writing. All the students of Punjabi of B.A Part I, II and III respectively attended the lecture.
Vote of thanks was presented by Ms Harmeet and programme was compeered by Ms Manjeet and Ms Mandeep of B.A Part III.
