LPG distributor booked for unfair practices

UDHAMPUR, June 14: On the direction of  District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Ravinder Kumar today a team of officers of Legal Metrology headed by Assistant Controller LMD, Jaideep Singh Sambyal  conducted a raid on unauthorised sale point of LPG distributor M/S Shubam Gas Agency at Adarsh Colony, Udhampur.
To ascertain the genuineness of several complaints of over charging and other violation commodity rule 2011 as well as market discipline guidelines of oil marketing companies and LPG Control Order 2000 of Central Government enforced by J&K Government, the team sought the compliance of above said acts.
Acting on the complaints regarding unfair trade practices adopted by LPG distributors in Udhampur, the team conducted surprise raid on the specific place where it found two trucks of  the said Gas Agency where the distributor was conducting sale of domestic LPG Cylinders to people who were standing in a queue complaining that the distributor is not handling booking on telephone where as per rules the distributor is mandatory required who ensure 100% home delivery also where as  the distributor was not giving rebate of Rs 19 on account of non- home delivery not giving any computerized cash memo to the consumers. The team seized records of the distributor  and booked him for further action.
The Assistant Controller directed all the LPG distributors of  Udhampur district to ensure home delivery within 48 hours of office booking besides ensuring proper weighing during  delivery.
