4 arrested with stolen gold ornaments, laptop worth Rs 4 lakh

JAMMU, July 3: Gandhi Nagar and Gangyal Police jointly smashed notorious burglars’ gang with the arrest of four persons and recovery of stolen gold ornaments and a laptop worth Rs 4 lakh.
As per police sources, several complaints regarding theft were received by the Gandhi Nagar, Gangyal and other Police Stations of Jammu.
In order to curb the menace of burglary, a joint team from Gandhi Nagar and Gangyal Police Stations was constituted.
After putting in sincere efforts, the team busted notorious burglars’ gang with the arrest of four thieves, who during questioning confessed their involvements in number of burglary cases in Jammu and its outskirts areas.
The arrested persons have been identified as Ravi Kumar, son of Sham Lal of Nud Tehsil Akhnoor district Jammu, Sunil Kumar, son of Garib Dass of Reshamgarh Colony, at present Dolan Bari Brahmana district Samba, Davinder Singh, son of Bal Krishan of Kothi Bhatal district Ramban and Mohan Singh, son of Balbir Singh of Pouni Kheralair district Reasi.
On their disclosure, police recovered 11 tolas of gold ornaments including 3 ladies gold rings, 3 gents gold rings, 2 gold bangles, 2 pairs of gold ear tops, 2 pairs of gold jhumka, 2 gold lockets, 2 gold tikkas, 1 gold nath, 1 gold necklace and 1 gold mangal sutra, which were stolen from Bakshi Nagar, Shakti Nagar and Gangyal areas. One laptop, which they had stolen from Channi area, has also been recovered.
It is pertinent to mentioned here that all the arrested accused persons were notorious burglars and were involved in number of theft and burglary cases. One of the accused namely Ravi Kumar was recently released from custody after serving 5 years of imprisonment.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia, SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali and assisted by Incharge Police Post Digiana SI Kali Charan and Incharge Police Post Nehru Market SI Sandeep Charak busted the gang under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, Incharge SP South Vinay Kumar and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
