Jammu tourism

Sir,
This has reference to the Sunday Magazine article ‘What ails the Jammu tourism’ DE July 1, 2018.
The author deserves kudos for highlighting an issue that is not taken into consideration by the Governments that rule the State. More dismaying is the attitude of the stakeholders who though raise the issue occasionally but not sincerely. They pay a lip service to the issue and thereafter go into hibernation for a pretty long time. Mere a statement or two regarding improving the tourism sector by a minister or a secretary is not going to do any good to this sector.
The tourism sector can receive impetus only if a proper policy is evolved in this matter as has been highlighted by the author of the write-up. The policy is then to be pursued sincerely and in a time bound manner. If a policy comes into effect, one can then hope that the tourism industry may take off in the desired direction. It is the duty of all those people who are connected with the industry to pursue the matter in an earnest manner.
