JAMMU, July 23: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today chaired a meeting to review progress on mega development projects being executed in Jammu ahead of Governor’s visit to the winter capital.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar, Head of Departments besides senior functionaries of executing agencies.
The Div Com took a detailed review of status of work on expansion of Jammu Airport, Ring Road project, four laning of Jammu-Akhnoor road, multi-tier parking at General Bus Stand, development of Tawi River Front, Jammu Ropeway project, upcoming Legislative Complex, augmentation of Chenab Water Supply Scheme, sewerage projects being executed by ERA and NBCC, restoration of Mubarak Mandi Heritage complex, development of facilities at Suchetgarh under border tourism, construction of Women Exhibition Development Centre at Exhibition Ground, Jammu, AIIMS project, IIT campus at Jagti Nagrota and IIM Jammu campus and more.
A detailed discussion was held on various issues including forest clearance, land acquisition for these projects and payment of compensation to the landowners.
The meeting was informed that the utility shifting work on Jammu-Akhnoor four-laning project has been initiated and places identified for the relocation of power installations. It was further informed that 70 percent of the work was completed on development of facilities at Suchetgarh under border tourism and work will be completed by October this year.
The Div Com asked the executing agency to frame tentative activity calendar and take all stakeholders on board to remove bottlenecks, if any.
Underlining the need for adopting professional approach for the execution of various developmental projects, the Div Com cautioned the concerned departments against delay in meeting the deadlines.
He called for close inter-department coordination for expediting the pace and regular monitoring of the projects besides adhering to quality norms.
The Div Com asked the concerned functionaries to conduct traffic survey to resolve the parking issue in Raghunath Bazaar area and take assistance of experts for beautification of General Bus Stand and Exhibition ground.
While taking a detailed review of the physical and financial progress registered on these projects so far, the Div Com laid stress on maintaining financial discipline by judicious utilization of funds.
He asked the concerned functionaries to utilize the available resources as per the requirements.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner launched the website of historical Shri Chandi Mata Ji Machail Yatra at a launch function organised by Sarv Shakti Sewak Sanstha, the official organization of Machail Yatra Management.
As per the Management Committee, the website has been launched with a motive to provide all the information related to Shri Chandi Mata Ji Machail Yatra and its history.
It includes all the important information which will be very helpful to all those pilgrims who are planning to visit Machail Village for the holy darshan of Maa Chandi such as schedule of yatra, transport and accommodation facilities available, helicopter services, yatra route map, food arrangements, grievance cell, security arrangements and other aspects related to Shri Chandi Mata Ji Machail Yatra. Website also includes information regarding various temples and other locations which can be visited enroute the yatra.
