Mountaineering Association selects 6 climbers in talent hunt

JAMMU, Dec 23: As a part of ongoing series of coaching cum competitions in sport-climbing for individual schools being organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K to spot talent at the grass root level, the Association has selected 6 students including 2 girls of Shining Star Academy, Muthi, Jammu for further coaching and training.
The day long coaching cum competition for the students of Shining Star Academy, the 11th in the series, was held at Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing wall at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, here.
While Pallavi Sharma was selected in the women’s category, Shilpa was picked in the sub Junior girls category.
The other selected climbers included Aman Dogra and Rohit Koul in the sub junior boys categoty and Hardev Singh and Rohit Kumar in the boys category.
With today’s selection the Association has so far selected a total of 73 talented climbers including 18 girls in various age groups from a number of local schools of Jammu.
A total of 28 climbers of Shining Star Academy and Sprawling Buds School participated in the coaching cum competition which was organized under the supervision of Sonam  Sidharth, a senior sport climber. Anil Kumar, a national climber, was the Route Setter cum Belayer of the competition who was supported by Rashmi Sharma of Shining Star Academy, Ritesh Sajgotra, Sudha Qazi and Karuna of Sprawling Buds School, Jammu. Secretary, Mountaineering Association of J&K, Ram Khajuria also visited the venue of the competition and encouraged the participants to work hard and bring laurels to the State in the forthcoming competitions.
