Castor seed futures fall on sluggish spot demand

NEW DELHI, July 25: Castor seed prices drifted lower by Rs 21 to Rs 4,532 per quintal in futures trade today as participants trimmed positions amid a weak spot cues.
Marketmen attributed the fall in castor seed prices in futures trade to cutting down of bets by participants due to muted demand from consuming industries such as soap and paint, against ample stocks.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castor seed for delivery in September contracts receded by Rs 21, or 0.46 per cent, to Rs 4,532 per quintal with an open interest of 32,470 lots.
Similarly, the contracts for delivery in August were down by Rs 18, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 4,496 per quintal with an open interest of 1,15,050 lots. (PTI)
