DODA, July 26: Rehmat Cricket Club (RCC) Jammu crushed Masood Cricket Club (MCC) Bhaderwah by 9 wickets to lift the title trophy of the All India 14th Gufran Memorial T20 Cricket Championship, which concluded at Sports Stadium, here today.
The tournament was organized by Young Star Cricket Club Doda and sponsored by 10 Rashtriya Rifles Unit Doda, J&K Bank, Green Model Hr Secondary School Doda and Shaheen Public Higher Secondary School Doda.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, MCC Bhaderwah bundled out for a paltry total of 56 runs in 13.1 overs. Akshay Saini scored 14 runs, while Mohsin Najar contributed 12 runs to the total. For RCC Jammu, Sawan Singh Manhas was the most successful bowler who scalped 3 important wickets, while Teena and Piyush shared 2 wickets each.
In reply, RCC Jammu scored the required runs in just 4.5 overs by losing 1 wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Abhimanyu Khod played a brilliant innings of 40 runs off 18 balls, while Piyush contributed 15 runs to the total. For MCC Bhaderwah, Shafqat Khakhan picked 1 wicket.
On the valedictory function, Deputy Commissioner Doda Simrandeep Singh was the chief guest while Commanding Officer 10 RR Col Abhishek Rawat was the guest of honour while ACR Doda Tariq Hussain Naik, 2IC 10 RR Alok Singh, CMO Doda Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, DySP Hqr Iftikhar Ahmed, DySP Traffic Zuhaib Patigaroo, DySP DAR Mansoor Ahmed, Principal GMHSS Doda Om Parkash Chandail, Director SPHSS Doda Hafiz Ullah Khurwani, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Doda Ashok Kotwal, District Panchayat Officer Idrees Wani, Asstt Director Handloom Deptt Haroon Naik, BDO Thathri Rafie Naik and Dr Sajjad Hussain Kraipak were the special guests on the occasion.
For his brilliant batting performance, Abhimanyu Khud of RCC Jammu was adjudged as the man of the match, while Abid Mushtaq of MCC Bhaderwah was declared as the man of the Tournament for his all-round performance.
On the occasion, the chief guest along with the other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams. Rs 1,00,000 and a trophy was awarded to the winning team out of which Rs 75,000 was sponsored by 10 Rashtriya Rifles Unit Doda, while Rs 50,000 was presented to the runners-up team along with a trophy.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Doda Simrandeep Singh lauded the efforts of YSCC Doda for organizing such a mega event.
He asked youth to participate in such events so that they can channelize their energies in a better way and exhibit their hidden talent.
Terming sports as an essential element in maintaining a balance between mind, body and soul, Simrandeep exhorted upon the youth to espouse extra-curricular activities for their personality development.
Patron YSCC Manzoor Ahmed Batt presented vote of thanks and extended thanks to all the sponsors and other people for their contribution in making the event a success.
