Chib sees off 6 cricketers of valley for advance coaching

SRINAGAR, Dec 24: Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Technical and Medical Education, R S Chib Monday said that sports are the only medium through which we can channelize the energy of our youth, adding Jammu and Kashmir youth have vast potential and the government has initiated concerted efforts for the proper development of sports activities in the state.
Chib was speaking at an impressive function organized at Air Field Srinagar to see off the six young cricketers belonging to Srinagar, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Kulgam and Shopian districts of the valley for advanced coaching in cricket.
Major General, GoC Victor Force, R R Nimbhorkar, Joint Secretary Sports Council, senior officers of Youth Services and Sports and selected cricketers of Valley were present on the occasion.
Mr. Chib said that though sports activities were badly affected during turmoil period yet during last three years government succeeded in regaining the value of sports in the valley. He said Kashmir Premier League is the visible example of it in which over 3000 matches were played in 10 district of the valley during last year.
He said KPL has provided 14 days coaching to the 20 selected cricketers of the valley which concluded today, adding that for this purpose services of two local coaches and one from outside state coaches have been utilized.
Of these cricketers, six have been selected for advanced coaching course of 6 weeks which is being imparted at Sehwag Cricket Academy, New Delhi.
Exhorting upon the students to acquaint themselves with advanced coaching, Chib said that these boys would attain exposure by coming across great personalities of cricket and seeing well developed stadia of the country. He said students were invited to play in Kolkata, Chennai and Jamshedpur.
Later, the Minister expressed his gratitude to the Brigadier 15 Corp for his cooperation in making KPL a success.
