Junior Engineers call on Vyas, highlight demands

JAMMU, Aug 3: A delegation of Forum of Junior Engineers led by Sachin Tickoo, Forum Convenor met B.B Vyas, Advisor to Governor N.N Vohra and discussed their demands.
The delegation apprised the Advisor that successive pay commissions have created anomalies for Junior Engineers (JEs) which have been pending with Finance Department for the last nine years for mere clarification.
The delegation further demanded increase in Field Travel Allowance of JEs to Rs. 3000 per month to mitigate the expenses of travelling in the field for carrying out all inspections, maintenance, upkeep and attending to breakdowns.
Additional 2.5 day’s salary as is there in Departments of Health and Police was another demand of JEs besides the demand that JEs should not be pronounced guilty without any technical enquiry and police should honour the provisions of the Section 124 of State Electricity Act 2010 in case of electrical accidents.
Exemption of field staff up to the level of Assistant Ex Engineer from biometric attendance was another demand of JEs.
The delegation also demanded early filling of vacancies at all levels while that of Assistant Engineer vacancies should be filled strictly as per cadre strength from amongst the eligible engineers from feeding cadres.
Others who were present in the delegation were Sushama Parihar, Forum’s Secretary (Organisation); Ajaz Kazmi, Sanjeev Bali, Ankush Sharma, Vipul Sharma, Wasim Mir, Ravi, Mohd. Iqbal, Ravi Karlupia, Abhishek Dutta, Vishal Bhagat, Kailash Bhagat, Sonia Pandoh, Ramesh, Sachin and Ankush Gupta.
