AKHNOOR, Dec 25: Minister for Health, Horticulture & Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma has said that Government has been giving focused attention to upgrade infrastructure to improve the education standards across the State. During the past four years numerous steps in this direction have been taken by the Government and change is visible on ground, he added.
Maintaining that education and health are core areas and these sectors have progressed substantially with the best efforts of the Government. He said the Government has taken appropriate steps to improve the parameters of these two sectors and indicators are satisfactory. Still a lot has to be done for the improvement of these sectors and Government was determined to keep these sectors on top of the agenda, the Minister asserted.
Addressing a sizeable gathering of parents, teachers and students at an annual day function of Bisno High School, Jad in Akhnoor zone, the Minister strongly advocated for introduction of moral science subject in all schools at the primary level to promote moral education and ethics. He said moral values are degrading fast from the society and need of the hour was to preserve our age old tradition and culture. He stressed upon the teachers and parents to instill sense of responsibility and moral values amongst the students so that after completion of their education they become good citizens and contribute to the development of the nation and for eradicating social evils.
Lauding the role of private sector in providing quality education, the Minster said that private sector has been doing commendable job and supplementing Government’s efforts in promoting education in the State. He asked the management of Bishno High School to maintain the tempo of excellence and prepare the students to compete in different sectors. He asked them to reserve due share of poor students in the school and provide them free education.
Principal, Madan Choudhary apprised the gathering about the performance of the school in academic as well as co-curricular activities.
The children presented a colorful bonanza of cultural activities which enthralled the jam packed audience.
The Minister distributed prizes amongst the students and teachers who excelled in different activities.
Large number of local people, teachers, parents and sectoral officers of various departments were present on the occasion.
