JAMMU, Dec 25: Two selectors of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association have expressed surprise over the decision of JKCA regarding their sacking as selectors.
In a letter addressed to the president of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), the two senior selectors of JKCA namely Surinder Singh Bagal and Sanjay Sharma have expressed surprise and shock over the decision of the JKCA Tournament Committee/ Provincial Committee and its convener regarding their sacking as selectors.
“The recent publication titling ‘JKCA Provincial Committee sacks Ranji trophy selectors’ appearing in Daily Excelsior recently has taken us by surprise and what is shell-shocking is that nothing has been communicated to us in writing by any competent authority of JKCA”, said senior selectors in a statement issued today.
The statement added that the sacking of the selectors of JKCA by any office bearer or any Tournament Committee member or its convenor is unauthorised and against the JKCA rules and constitution, so is of no consequence whatsoever.
The selectors have further alleged that such illegal action by any JKCA administrator amounts to interference in the selection process of JKCA teams.
Meanwhile, Ramesh Mahajan, working committee member JKCA and office bearer of the tournament committee in a signed statement has said that the two Ranji selectors shall continue to discharge their duties as selectors for the forthcoming matches. He said that the tournament committee of which he is also the member has the mandate of organizing matches only and not interfering in other affairs, adding that he was misled by some Committee members, who wrongfully took his signatures.
