Anganwadi workers protest for salary, other demands

JAMMU, Dec 26: To draw the attention of Government towards sufferings and demands of ICDS supervisors, Anganwadi workers and helpers, a protest demonstration was held outside the office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu, here today.
The protest was organized under the banner of J&K Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union. The protesters raised slogans in support of their demands such as removal of pay anomalies, amendment in recruitment rules. They were also demanding release of their salary and honorarium, which were pending for the months together.
While addressing the dharna, J&K National Trade Union Front Mohd Gafoor Dar urged the authorities of Social Welfare Department to settle the burning issues of ICDS supervisors, Anganwadi workers and helpers. He also warned to intensify the struggle if no action is taken in this regard.
Others who addressed the dharna, included Ghulam Rasool Geelani, Ratanaji, Babi Malik, Pushpa Devi, Lalita Devi, Agya Kour, Shameda Kousar, Surinder Kour, Leela Devi, Anju Sharma, Rajinder Kumar, Satpaul Singh and Barket Ussain.
