Govt to seek Rs.29.90 cr from centre for promotion of adventure sport: Jora

JAMMU, Dec 27: The Government would sought Rs. 29.90 crore from Union Ministry of Tourism for upgradation of adventure sports tourism infrastructure at Zanskar in Kargil district, said Tourism and Culture Minister, Nawang Rigzin Jora while reviewing fiscal and financial achievements registered by Zanskar Tourism Development Authority here today.
Mr Jora said that Tourism potential of Zanskar area is being explored fully by creation of tourist related infrastructure and development of scenic spots, besides adventure sports of the area.
The Minister said that to promote adventure tourism and create tourist related facilities in the area, the Government is formulating a detailed project of Rs. 29.90 crore, which after approval of the State Government would be submitted to Central Government for approval of funding.
Jora said that 3 Tourism Development Project of Rs. 39.78 crore was under implementation for creation and upgradation of varied tourist in the area under State Plan and Centrally sponsored schemes. He said so far Rs. 11.99 crore have been released against which Rs. 11.89 crore expended for infrastructure development in the area.
Minister of State for Tourism, Culture and Home, Nasir Aslam Wani was present in the meeting.
Chief Executive Counsellor, Kargil Hill Development Council, Kachu Ahmed Ali Khan, MLA, Zanskar, Feroz Ahmed Khan, Commissioner Secretary Tourism and Culture, Mr. Atul Dullo, Director Tourism Kashmir, Talat Parvez, District Development Commissioenr, Kargil, Fida Hussain, I/C Chief Executive Officer, Zanskar Development Authority, Bilal Ahmed and senior officers and engineers of concerned departments attended the meeting.
