KATHUA, Dec 28: Shining Star Cricket Club, Kathua and Sandhu Cricket Club Ludhiana entered into the next round by defeating their opponents in the ongoing 3rd Police Martyrs’ Memorial North Zone T20 Cricket Championship, being organized by the J&K Police at Sports Stadium, here.
Earlier, in the first match played today, Shining Star Club scripted an easy win over Poonch XI by 8 wickets. Batting first, Poonch XI bundled out for paltry 85 runs in 17.4 overs. None of the batsman succeeded in giving a major contribution. Shinning Star Kathua chased the target easily in 11overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match easily by 8 wickets. Chander Paul of Shining Star took 3 important wickets and was adjudged man of the match. He was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1500 and a trophy on the occasion.
In another match, Sandhu Cricket Club Ludhiana defeated Stadium XI Senior Kathua by 9 wickets in an easy contest. Batting first, Stadium XI scored a modest total of 108 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 6 wickets. Sandhu Cricket Club, in reply, chased the target easily in 15 overs by losing one wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Prince was declared man of the match for smashing power-packed 64 runs. He was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1500 and a trophy on the occasion.
