SRINAGAR, Dec 28: Field executives of Legal Metrology Department under the supervision of Deputy Controller (Enforcement) Kashmir conducted surprise inspection of several markets of Srinagar and booked about one dozen erring traders for violating Packaged Commodities Rules/Weights and Measures Laws.
In a press release, a spokesman of the department said that in one instance on the Srinagar Bye-pass, a petrol pump was booked for supplying a consumer short-delivery of the fuel. The spokesman said that a fine of Rs. 4,000 was imposed on spot for the offence.
“In another instance common consumers complained about a trader for supplying them underweight Kashmiri bread. The weighment of the breads was carried on the mobile scale available with the team and the weight of bread was found much less than fixed by the Director, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution,” said the spokesman.
