Cong Foundation Day function sans Ministers

JAMMU, Dec 28: 28: Congress Party activists celebrated its 128th Foundation Day function with great enthusiasm at the PCC headquarters here today.
A large number of senior functionaries of the party, former Ministers, sitting and former legislators of the party besides provincial, district and block level party activists participated in the gala programme. However, not even a single Party Minister could make it to show his presence in the function.
Former MP and senior vice president of the PCC, Dharam Pal Sharma presided over the function while, several heads of the frontal organizations of the party were also present on the occasion. Besides Ex-MP, former Minister Mula Ram, MLA Indu Pawar, Th Hari Singh vice president, Ravinder Sharma MLC, district president Jammu (U) Om Chopra, Ex-MLA Bharat Gandhi and others addressed the gathering and recalled the contributions of the party. The party functionaries however, were critic of the absence of the party Ministers on this occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, the party leaders threw light on the history of the Congress Party and its contribution and the sacrifices for the freedom of the country and its achievements towards nation building in the post-independence period. They said during 127 years of service to the nation, the party remained committed to the principle of secularism and socialism. They said Congress party had played a great role in the freedom struggle of the country. There were many challenges before the country when it attained freedom. The country achieved great heights under the leadership of Congress Party. They lauded the efforts of Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the country.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included K L Gupta, Hari Singh Chib, Lalita Sharma, S R Sudhir, Bharat Gandhi, Pardeep Parihar from Kishtwar, Ashwani Puri, Ravi Singh Slathia, V K Sethi, S S Shigari, Santosh Magotra, Parveen Sarwar Khan, Ms Parveen from Kargil, Ch Sukhdev, Om Parkah and others.
