AGORE, Dec 28: Political Advisor to the Chief Minister Devender Singh Rana said that Omar Abdullah led Government has flagged agriculture sector as one of the most important concerns in the development policy of the State making it focused area for the development of farmers and growth of agriculture produce.
Rana who was speaking after inaugurating Agriculture Mela in Agore area of Nagrota constituency said that modern farming techniques are being encouraged in the fields and farmers are being trained and educated to introduce new farm techniques for raising per-hectare production and productivity.
He said various farmers training camps, agricultural melas and exhibitions of farms implements are being organized to educate farming community about the modern agricultural practices.
Underlining scientific cultivation of conventional and cash crops as imperative for all round development of agriculture, Rana emphasized for transfer of technology and scientific findings from lab to land.
He said the technology of cultivation of vegetables, floriculture and cash crops under ‘Poly Green House’ technology has greater potential in the State, and told farmers to take best advantage of the schemes under implementation in the State for Poly Green House. He asked the departmental experts to make farmers fully aware of the advantages of poly green houses and various schemes launched by the State Coalition Government for the development of agriculture and agriculturists.
Rana said that Omar Abdullah’s keen interest in revolutionizing agriculture and economically uplifting the farming community is evident by the fact that this sector has been kept out of the preview of almost all taxes.
He said that in order to make transfer of credit and other facilities to farmers hassle free entire farming families are being provided Kissan Credit Cards and the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has fixed its hundred percent target realization by March, 2013.
Earlier, the Political Advisor laid foundation stone of Community Hall at Agore for which he provided Rs. 10.00 lakh out of his Constituency Development Fund.
Those who were present on the occasion included Jugal Kishore MLA Nagrota, Ravinder Singh Peter, Anwar Khan, Ch. Mumtaz, Milkhi Ram, Sham Lal and others.
Chief Agriculture Officer Jammu Jatinder Singh, Sub-District Agriculture Officer, Jammu P.K Kaul, Agriculture Extension Officer Bhalwal Pardeep Abrol and Block Development Officer Bhalwal Aijaz Qaiser were also present.
