SAMBA, Aug 28: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Sushma Chauhan today chaired a meeting of officers to review implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA) in the District.
PMGDISHA, a project launched under the Skill India scheme, is an initiative that aims to impart digital literacy to rural citizens across the country and putting an end to digital divide by educating the digital poor including the marginalized sections of the society like SC, ST, women and differently- abled persons.
A total of 6 crore rural citizens between age group of 14-60 years are envisaged to be trained under this initiative by the close of current financial year. The aim of PMGDISHA is to make at least one person of a rural household digitally literate so that he/she can operate digital devices (like Tablets, Smartphones etc) send and receive emails and undertake digital payment, etc.
ACD Aijaz Qaiser was designated as Nodal Officer for effective implementation of PMGDISHA in the District. She further directed the nodal officer to review progress of PMGDISHA on monthly basis. The DDC directed the concerned to reach out to every family in the District so that maximum benefit of PMGDISHA is availed by the rural population of the District.
She directed the Village Level Entrepreneurs VLEs & and Common Service Centres CSCs imparting training under PMDISHA to work in close coordination with BDOs and other rural functionaries for speedy identification of beneficiaries for the free training. VLEs were directed to ensure quality training to the beneficiaries so that they feel empowered to use digital technology in their day to day lives. She further directed the concerned to frame Block Wise/VLE wise monthly targets to achieve the target of covering 17500 rural households of Samba before 31 March 2019.
Later on DDC chaired the meeting of officers to review the preparedness for the plantation drive to be started from 5th September.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Pankaj Magotra, ADC Arun Manhas, ACD Aijaz Qaiser, DIO Informatics, CEO, CMO, Army Officers, DPO, DSWO, DIO Information, BDOs and other concerned officers.
