JAMMU, Aug 29: Under the leadership of its president Rajveer Singh, Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) here today organised a programme ‘Pride of Dogra’s Maharaja Hari Singh’.
A large number of youth, Sarpanches and Panches participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion Rajveer threw light on the life of Maharaja Hari Singh and enumerated various reforms ushered by him (Maharaja) during his tenure as head of Jammu and Kashmir State.
“He made primary education for girls compulsory in the State, introduced laws prohibiting child marriage and opened places of worship for dalits,” YRS president said.
He appealed to the Governor S.P Malik to look into the long pending demand of Dogra community of holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh on September 23.
Those who spoke on the occasion were Raghubir Singh, Surinder Singh, Rajesh Singh, Mukesh Singh, Mandeep Singh Rimpy, Daljeet Singh and others.
