SRINAGAR, Aug 31: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) today urged upon the Governor, SP Malik to utilise all the State resources to protect Article 35.
A high level delegation of JKPCC today called on Governor SP Malik at Raj Bhavan here and held threadbare discussions on the overall socio-political and the prevailing security scenario in the State. Many issues of public importance also came under discussion.
The delegation also discussed with the Governor, the law and order situation in the State, emphasizing that State Govt must utilize all resources at it’s disposal to safeguard Art 35 A keeping in view the urges and aspiration of the people.
The delegation was headed by PCC president GA Mir and those who accompanied included former PCC president Peerzada Mohd Syed, MLC Gulam Nabi Monga, Mohd Anwar Bhat, MLA Mohd Amin Bhat, Ex- Minister Raman Matoo, spokesperson Farooq Andrani and PCC general secretary Surinder Singh Channi.
The delegation told the Governor that constitutional provision protecting the State Subject laws guaranteed under Article 35- A of the Constitution of India read with Article 370 has to be safeguarded in the larger interest of the Jammu and Kashmir State, emphasizing that State Government must utilize all the resources at the disposal to defend the Art 35- A as and when it is taken up for hearing in the Supreme Court keeping in view the urges and aspirations of the people.
The delegation also invited the attention of Governor towards the security of Congress Party functionaries and urged that adequate security cover be ensured to them, as that, they were being denied security time and again. The delegation also emphasized that before announcing elections in the State, Government must assess the Security scenario in the State, urging that requisite security and insurance cover must be ensured to contesting candidates.
Congress also briefed the Governor about the developmental projects started during UPA Government, saying that despite completing 90 per cent of the work, these projects were stopped merely on political lines. They also demanded regularization of Anganwari workers, helpers, teachers, need basis workers. They also sought cancellation of back door appointments made by BJP-PDP during last three years.
