Life is today. Live for today. Has anybody seen the future? Future, in turn becomes the present. Change is a part of life. Sometimes it’s positive, sometimes not so. But, regardless of what form it comes in, we have a choice- we can either ride the wave of change or let it crash upon us as we struggle to remain afloat.
Life today is fast-paced. We suffer from constant pressure to be somewhere other than we are now, to be someone else other than we are now. We have so much infinite knowledge and choice at our fingertips that is never ending, we just don’t know when to stop or how to start. We forget that there is more to life. We forget to widen our perspective, our level of thinking. We don’t realise that by changing our thoughts, our whole world will change. I know people get worried about change. We may lose something good but we will definitely gain something better.
If one person has the ability to make the future promising, imagine what a group of people can do. Each one of us has the natural ability to make a better tomorrow. What we don’t realise is- by choosing to improve the future, we are benefiting ourselves as individuals and making a better us.
In words of Nelson Mandela- ” We can change the world and make it a better place. It is in your hands to make a difference”.
We, as layman, believe we cannot make a change as our efforts won’t be that effective but we don’t realise that this piece by piece effort will become a fist one day. If not for us, we can atleast create a better society for our children. As is very well quoted by APJ Abdul Kalam- “You cannot change your future, but, you can change your habits, and surely your habits will change your future.”
Some of the most prominent matters always disturb me. Around 48 percent children under the age of five years, have stunted growth, indicating that half of the children are malnourished in India. It is a home to a quarter of the world’s hunger. We are working hard on making India a developed nation. How? By making our future starve?
The world health organization estimates that about a million people in the world commit suicide. India is at second spot after China. We talk about ‘ Each One Teach One’. But teach what? We can’t even teach our people that suicide is not the solution for every problem?
Crime against women in India is increasing at a high pace in form of rape, molestation and eve-teasing. We talk about equality. Is this how we define it?
Our country is one of the most corrupted countries in the world. We live in a country which gave birth to Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa and still we can’t go ahead with morals and values.
Cancer is a major public health concern. More than 30 percent of cancer deaths in the country are due to tobacco consumption. We know that tobacco consumption is harmful for health. We know that liquor is dangerous. Why don’t we just stop it’s manufacturing? Soch Badlo!
More than million Indians are millionaires, yet, most Indians live on less than Rs 100 per day. It’s a plight- Rich are becoming richer and poor are becoming poorer.
India is among the world’s top five countries for the highest number of incidents of cyber crime. Technology is the game today. One can make the country bloom with technology, and look at us, we are going the other way round.
India has more than thousand fast track courts, still we have over three crore cases pending. How can we bring change until the decision remains pending?
India leads the world with the most murders. Really? We live in a country that believes in so many religions and has more than thirty million Gods. Still we fight! This is what we have learnt from them. Our religion preaches us that love and peace are hogwash. Is it?
Our life is a reflection of our thoughts. If we change our thinking, we can change our life.
‘The road to victory is not easy, but does that intend us to take bypasses?’
Life is what happens when we pay attention to the small things around us. These things may be small and unimportant, but they make life worth living. Do not postpone change and kindness. The sooner we do, the sooner our quality of life and overall satisfaction will improve enormously.
