Vehicles lifting gang busted, kingpin among 2 arrested

JAMMU, Sept 2: Satwari and Belicharana police jointly busted a vehicles lifting gang with the arrest of two persons including kingpin of the gang and recovery of three stolen motorcycles.
As per police sources, yesterday, a complaint was lodged by Mohammad Rafiq, son of Mir Mohammad, a resident of Bashir Gujjar Basti with Belicharana Police Post stating that during the intervening night of August 30 and 31, some unknown person(s) have stolen his motorcycle bearing registration number JK02BP-1265 from outside his house.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 144/18 under Section 379 RPC was registered at Satwari Police Station and hunt was launched to nab the thieve(s).
During the course of investigation, police rounded up several suspects and finally nabbed three thieves involved in the theft of aforesaid motorcycle.
The accused have been identified as Altaf Hussain alias Zakir, son of Liyakat Ali of Chanderkote, District Ramban and Shabir Ahmed, son of Mangoo of Verinag District Anantnag, at present Belicharana.
Apart from aforesaid stolen motorcycle, police also recovered two more stolen motorcycles bearing chassis numbers MBLH10BFFHB26182 and MBLHAR087JHA55982, which the accused had stolen from different areas of the Jammu and adjoining areas.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by SHO Satwari Inspector Manjeet Singh and assisted by Incharge Belicharana Police Post SI Lakhvir Singh busted the gang and arrested the accused under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, Incharge SP South Vinay Sharma and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
