JAMMU, Sept 8: Two days long 1st District Jammu Kalarippayattu Championship concluded at Kotli Bhawan Rehari Colony, here.
The Championship was organized by District Jammu Kalarippayattu Association under the banner of Kalarippayattu Association of Jammu and Kashmr.
Around 300 students drawn from various schools participated in the event.
The participants were from KC International School, Shangrilla Public School, Army Public School, Anuradha Mission Public School, Delhi Public School, International Delhi Public School, Major Institute of Education, BhartiyaSiksha Kendra, BSF School, JK Montessori School, JP World School and Ultimax Mixed Martial Arts Academy.
Dr SM Bali, Joint Secretary Indian Olympic Association was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Shakti Dutta and Tarsem Sharma were the guests of honour.
The Championship was conducted under the supervision of Danish Sharma.
On the occasion, Dr Bali threw light on the importance of the Kalarippayattu especially for self-defence, fitness and development of physique and character.
In Under-14 boys; -40kg- 1st Samarth Jain, 2nd Daksh Sharma, 3rd Mridul Sharma and Shoaib Ul-Hassan; -43 kg-1st Eklavya, 2nd Tarun Gupta, 3rd Zarrar and Vinayak; -46 kg-1st Pranavbalgotra, 2nd Rahul Kumar, 3rd Vanshkohli and Mohd Kaif; -50 kg- 1st Aditya Sharma, 2nd Bhanavjyot Singh, 3rd Mohd Usman and Tashiqhussain; -54 kg- 1st Zayin Dobriyal, 2nd Ghavya Gupta, 3rd Mohd Tobish and Nitist Pandita.
