JAMMU, Sept 12: Former Minister, MLA and BJP Spokesperson Priya Sethi today distributed free cooking gas connections to eligible women beneficiaries from BPL and SC/ST families, under Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana at Jammu East.
Speaking on the occasion, Priya Sethi said that no previous Government ever cared for this section of the society who were cooking under worst circumstances. “The way earlier Governments were issuing gas connections, these women would have never had an opportunity to use clean cooking fuel and lead a healthy life. It’s PM Ujjwala Yojana launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that such facilities have started percolating down to the grass root level,” she added.
Priya Sethi urged those present on the occasion to take benefits of Government schemes like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Ladli Beti and Swachh Vidyalaya Programme and empower women who are nation builders. She hoped that lives of women who untill now were using firewood, coal, dung – cakes, kerosene or other fuel for cooking and were exposed to hazardous smoke will now lead a healthy life after using cooking gas.
“The importance of switching over to cooking gas from other means of fuel can be very well understood by none other than those women who had been using coal, wood or kerosene to cook food for their families in worst conditions. Now when under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana these women have been given cooking gas cylinders their lives have completely been transformed. These families are now leading a clean and healthy life”, she said.
Priya Sethi asked the women, who have experienced the benefits of cooking with LPG to boost the confidence of other women about adopting this clean, green cooking fuel safely and without any reservations or misconceptions as sharing of experiences by actual users and learning through peer group interaction is the main aim of LPG Panchayats.
