TN-Har Ranji match drawn, both avoid relegation

Chennai, Jan 1: Last year runner-up Tamil Nadu managed to avoid relegation as its final Elite Group B match against Haryana ended in a tame draw here today.
Resuming at seven for no loss after the home team batted out the second and third day (first day washed out due to rain) and scored a mammoth 571, Haryana finished at 180 for three in 86 overs.
Tamil Nadu’s ploy for a first innings lead never fructified as Haryana batsmen offered stubborn resistance.
Since the first innings were not completed, both the teams gained one point each from the drawn encounter and will stay in the Elite Group.
Both Tamil Nadu and Haryana finished with an identical 14 points and avoided relegation.
