Kalsi misses out on record; HP gets three points

Hyderabad, Jan 1: A record may have eluded its in-form batsman, A R Kalsi but Himachal Pradesh collected three crucial points by virtue of their first innings lead in the Cooch Behar Trophy Under-19 cricket match which ended in a tame draw against Hyderabad at the AOC Centre Ground here today.
Hyderabad, despite valiant efforts by K S K Chaitanya (61) and Tanay Thyagarajan (57), could only make 388 before being all out.
In the urge to accelerate the second innings score, the visitors lost wickets at regular intervals barring Kalsi, who continued from where he left to score at a brisk pace before falling three runs short of a deserving century.
The three-figure mark would have put him in the record books after his mammoth unbeaten 206 in the first essay.
The Himachal Pradesh second innings was declared closed immediately after he was out.
Brief scores: Himachal Pradesh 505 & 161 for 6 (A R Kalsi 97, Shravan Kumar 3/37) drew with Hyderabad 388 (B Anirudh 133, G Rahul Singh 77, K S K Chaitanya 61, Tanay Thyagarajan 57, P P Jaswal 2/97, Dheeraj Thakur 3/77, V P Kumar 4/93) and 30 for 1. Match Drawn: Himchal Pradesh 3 points Hyderabad 1.
