SMVDU, BIRAC organize Sensitization Workshop

KATRA, Jan 11: A one-day Sensitization Workshop on “Intellectual Property Technology Management & Entrepreneurship” was jointly organized by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, here today.
Prof V Verma, Dean, College of Engineering & Director, School of Biotechnology inaugurated the workshop and welcomed the experts from BIRAC and delegates from various universities and institutes of the region. Prof Verma introduced the topic of the workshop and its growing relevance in a technology-oriented country like India.
Dr Ravi Dhar, Senior Consultant, BIRAC greeted all the participant with his opening remarks and introduced the scheme of programs initiated by BIRAC for creating on awareness about IPR and the available legal rights in India and delivered a very informative presentation on Intellectual Property & Technology Management.
The team from BIRAC made a brief video presentation elucidating the role of DBT in funding various entrepreneurship ventures in the areas of Agro-biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Environment, Infrastructure and Diagnostics.
Dr Gautam Bhattacharya, K&S Partners, IP Law Firm, Gurgaon, Pankaj Kumar, CEO, Director and Co-founder, Leadinvent and Sibi Sagar, Programme Manager-IP, BIRAC also spoke on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Roop Avtar Kaur, Vinod Sharma and SK Sadhotra.
