JAMMU, Jan 12: Jammu State Morcha president, Prof Virender Gupta has strongly criticized the National Conference general secretary Sheikh Nazir for accusing New Delhi of deceiving and backstabbing the people of Kashmir on one pretext or the other.
Prof Virender Gupta, in a statement, said that it is the Pakistan which has deceived number of times not only the people of Kashmir but also the Government of India.
The promise made by Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru in 1947 and the United Nation resolution for ascertaining the wishes of the people of the State could not be implemented as the Pakistan backtracked and did not fulfill the conditions as per the Security Council resolution, he explained.
The JSM leader also accused Sheikh Mohd Abdullah of sabotaging the Indian leadership and said that these are the Kashmir leaders including those of NC and PDP who have deceived the people of Kashmir for their own vested interests.
The statement of Mr Nazir should be an eye opener for the Government of India, which must take strong action against the NC for its anti national utterances while the Congress party should also make its position clear on the issue, Prof Gupta said.
